We’ve found out what’s happening in Portland this weekend so you don’t have to. Here are the Emerald team’s top picks!
Music: PDX Pop Now Festival!
This all-ages, volunteer-run festival is an awesome place to check out local Portland musicians. With 44 artists being showcased, you’re bound to hear something new. The festival takes place at AudioCinema under the Hawthorne bridge, with two outdoor stages, food carts, vendors, and more. Oh, and did we mention it’s free? You can’t beat that. The Festival starts on Friday July 22nd at 6 pm and goes through the weekend!
Food: Wing Night!
Pop-ups are all over Portland this summer. Don’t miss this one: Bar Maven in the Foster-Powell neighborhood is hosting a one-night Korean fried chicken night! On top of that, a live DJ will throw down some old-school hip hop while you feast on fried deliciousness. The event starts at 4 pm on Saturday July 23rd . Get there early before the wings run out!
Drink: Rural Brewer Fest
If you’re looking for something a little more obscure this weekend, check out the 2nd annual Rural Brewer Fest. Forget about Portland, Bend and Eugene beers — all breweries represented are from towns with less than 10,000 people. Head down to the Hawthorne Hophouse on Saturday, July 23rd to taste some lesser known brews. Doors open at 2 pm, and tickets are $13 advance purchase and $15 at the door.
